"OneBeat is a sort of 'meeting of the minds' of musicians from around the world to learn about each others' techniques, technologies, and musical styles, and to collaboratively develop ways that music can be employed as a tool for youth development, conflict resolution, and other causes. For the OneBeat Fellows, this would mean an all-expenses-paid trip to the U.S. for a month-long residency and tour program, in which they will work with the inaugural group of OneBeat Fellows to write, produce, and perform new music, re-invent traditional tunes, lead creative workshops with youth and community groups in the U.S., and become part of a lifelong network of socially engaged musicians. The first OneBeat will take place in Sept-Oct 2012, beginning with a residency period at the Atlantic Center for the Arts in Florida, and then touring up eastern U.S. toward a final concert in New York.
